Livistona |
The Livistona genus is made up of 36 species originating in Southeast Asia, Australasia and across to Africa. An extremely hardy palm genus that can handle a variety of temperatures and site soil conditions providing drainage is good, but foliage will be much better if protected from winds. The hardy L. australis is one of the most common varieties used in landscapes across Australia. Livistona species may grow up to 25m in height with beautiful rounded canopy of fan shaped leaves. Be aware that the stems of the fronds on this genus contain shark tooth-like serrated spikes that need to be handled with extreme caution. |
