Fraxinus |
Fraxinus or Ash is a genus of popular medium to large shade trees and grow up to 12 metres; occasionally some varieties can reach 20 metres. Mostly deciduous, there are some evergreen varieties. Fraxinus are among the first trees to flower in spring and the first to colour in autumn, although frost can cause the loss of leaves before coloration. The leaves can range in colour during autumn from bright yellow to red to purple. Fraxinus mainly prefer deep moist soils, but some species are tolerant of heat and dry conditions. |
