Tristaniopsis |
The Tristaniopsis genus is part of the Myrtaceae family and native to South Asia and down to Australia where the genus consists of 40 rainforest shrubs and trees. Tristaniopsis has a slow rate of growth is commonly found growing along creek banks and in rainforest openings in light shade to full sunlight. Tristaniopsis laurina is a multi-branched tree, the leaves are long narrow glossy dark green with a paler under-side and the flowers are bright yellow and have a distinctive smell. They attract honeybees as well as small native bee species when flowering in the late spring or early summer. Under cultivation Tristaniopsis may be pruned to maintain a compact shape and will generally tolerate a variety of soil types from well-drained rocky soils to heavy clay loams, provided ample water is available. |
